Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a homeopathic consultation?

A homeopath's job is to gain a thorough understanding of your health and the exact symptoms your are experiencing.

During the first consultation I will ask lots of questions to build up a complete as possible 'picture', taking into account a wide variety  of factors such as medical history, personality traits,s stress triggers, likes and dislikes, lifestyle and dreams.

The homeopath often works like a detective, searching out information, asking questions, trying to find out where in the body the flow of energy has been blocked or hindered and then trying to piece together the results. I might ask you to repeat yourself several times in order to understand what you are saying on several different levels. The better I understand your nature, the easier it will be to find the best possible treatment for you.

Follow up consultations

Follow up consultations are an essential part of the homeopathic treatment process and are spaced out according to your needs: in two weeks, four weeks, six weeks and on. I assess your reaction and progress and determine what additional methods or remedies you might require.

The number of times you need follow up consultations will depend on your condition and/or how quickly you respond to the remedy recommended.  Initially a least two to three follow up appointments is needed.

What kind of conditions can be treated with homeopathy?

By its very nature, homeopathic treatment is not specific to a particular illness, but is directed at the underlying state of the person suffering from that illness. By addressing this state, the appropriately chosen remedy effectively addresses the illness. A homeopath will match the pattern of peculiarities of the person with the similar pattern in a remedy to find the individual remedy for the individual case. This often means that two people with the same disease will often need different remedies or that two people with different diseases may need the same remedy.

Homeopathy helps by stimulating your own healing ability.  Hence, you can use homeopathy for a range of conditions, physical or emotional.

Homeopathy is widely used throughout the world and can help with everything from acute colds, stress, pain or injuries to many chronic conditions.

Are homeopathic medicines safe?

Homeopathic medicines have been used for more than 200 years and have established a remarkable safety record over that time.  Homeopathic medicines have been regulated by the FDA as drugs since 1938.

Since the medicines are so highly diluted, they do not contain significant amounts of the original substance from which they are made.  Therefore, they do not have the adverse effects associated with many conventional medications or substances.  They are, however, powerful energetic stimuli and must be used with discretion.

Homeopathic medicines offer some of the safest choices for self-treatment.  Homeopathic medicines can be safely taken with conventional medications, herbal remedies and supplements, and are sometimes recommended to complement other treatments.

Can I treat myself with over the counter homeopathic medicines?

Buying homeopathic medicines over the counter for acute complaints and emergencies can be of great help.  Trying out remedies first for simple problems might avoid many visits to your doctor or emergency clinic.

Learning to treat acute problems at home is a rewarding experience.  Being able to relieve suffering and bring healing to those who need it is very satisfying.  It can also save a lot of unnecessary doctor visits for simple problems you can treat yourself.  There is much that you can learn to deal with at home, and achieve results in a very short time using a core set of remedies for acute conditions.

Homeopathy is the best medicine for home use because it is safe, natural, non-toxic and best of all, it works where other medicines cannot.

With long-standing or frequently recurring conditions it is hardly possible to  assess one's own remedy picture.  A professional homeopath is trained to work with a multitude of remedies, their specific relation to each other, and how to best utilize each remedy in relation to application, timing and potency.  The complexity of such specialist knowledge is not generally available over the counter.

Is there scientific evidence for homeopathy?

The efficacy of homeopathic medicines is supported by 200 years of clinical observation.  Homeopathy is used by thousands of physicians and over 500 million people worldwide, making it one of the most popular forms of integrated medicine.  -The Faculty of Homeopathy

An increasing number of scientific studies on homeopathy are being conducted and, in recent years, more than 1100 of these studies have been published in medical journals.  Clinical research is providing evidence of efficacy of homeopathic medicines, and basic laboratory research is confirming the biological activity of highly diluted substances and helping the scientific community better understand their mechanism of action.
